Snapchat is introducing a new “Dynamic Stories” feature that will allow publishers to automatically create in-app stories based on the news they post online, the company announced on Tuesday. The first partners are CNN, Bloomberg, ESPN and others. The new feature uses the publisher’s RSS feed to automatically create and post stories to the publisher’s Snapchat Stories. The automatically generated stories will appear in the app’s Discover feed, after which the stories will be updated in real time.
The company says the new format will play a major role in its efforts to deliver local new content to app users around the world. The new Dynamic Stories feature is currently being tested in the US, UK, France, and India.
“We have always felt a deep responsibility to provide news and information that is credible and comes from reliable and understandable sources,” Snap said in a blog post . “Whether it’s breaking news from trusted sources about the war in Ukraine, or the latest in pop culture or fashion, Dynamic Stories helps Business Profile Snapchat users learn about the world as it is.”
The company collaborates with Axios, Bloomberg, Buzzfeed, CNN, Complex Networks, Condé Nast (Self, Vogue), ESPN, Insider, New York Post, Page Six, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, TMZ, Tom’s Guide, Vice. , British Vogue, GQ UK, PinkNews, The Independent, The Mirror, Femme Actuelle, Foot Mercato, Gala, GQ France, Le Figaro, Marie Claire FR, Paris Match, Vogue France, GQ India, MissMalini, Pinkvilla, Sportskeeda, The Quint , Times Now and Vogue India.

Snap says the new feature gives publishers an easy way to create daily in-app content by merging Snapchat posting practices with their existing workflows. The new feature will make it easier for news outlets, especially smaller local ones, to post their content to Snapchat without having to do it manually. Because this process is automated, publishers won’t have to spend extra time contacting users on Snapchat.
This isn’t the first time work flow of Snapchat has tried to highlight news content on its platform. Back in 2021, Snapchat and NowThis struck a deal that would see the social video news publisher launch a NowBreaking channel on Snapchat. The channel debuted on the Snapchat Discover page in June 2021.
Before that, NBC News launched a daily show for Snapchat in 2022, with the newsroom airing two episodes a day for a week. Following the success of the NBC News show, CNN launched its own daily news program on Snapchat.
In a blog post about today’s announcement, Snap took the time to reiterate that its Discover page only features content from verified media publishers and content creators.
